We are extremely excited about an amazing new innovation in bike light technology. There are so many reiterations of the same ol’ same ol’, year after year. Companies make minor improvements on existing technology so they can sell you the same thing over and over. Then, every once and awhile, somebody comes along with something that simply blows your mind. Enter, the Revolight.

This is a completely new way of thinking when it comes to keeping you well lit at night while providing illumination to light the path in front of you. The company website explains how the lights function:

The Revolights bike lighting system (patent pending) consists of two narrow rings of LEDs that mount directly to each wheel using a series of clips and ring spacers. Lithium-ion batteries, bracket-mounted to the front and rear hub, supply power to the LEDs. The batteries are slim and lightweight, and can be charged via USB. A small, fork-mounted magnet and an integrated accelerometer provide speed and orientation data to the rings. This allows the LEDs to illuminate only when oriented at the front or rear of the bicycle.

The company claims 4 hours of run time, 8 LEDs per at 35 lumens each, and a total weight 24.6 ounces. The unit is water and theft resistance and can be used on 700c and 27in wheel sizes.

We are itching to get our hands on a set of these lights to test them out. We hope to have a set soon and we will provide you with a review as soon as we put some miles in with these lights.
