After two huge race weekends on both sides of the Missouri/Kansas state line, the roads will be quiet this coming weekend as the only race on the calendar will be contested on the dirt. This weekend is Mason’s Midsummer Meltdown, a cross-country mountain bike race. The event will be held at Wyandotte County Lake Park in Kansas City, Kansas.

Race promoters have offered a great course description:

Consisting of approximately 8 miles per lap this fun, fast and challenging course is a mix of flowing hand benched single-track, challenging climbs, blazing downhills, a few fun features and a smidgen of double track thrown in to ensure plenty of passing opportunities.

Riders will complete 1-3 laps based on their category or riders may enter the marathon category and they will complete as many laps as possible in a 3 hour time period. The weather forecast is dry and warm as of press time. This event serves as a fundraiser for the Trail Masons Association and all money raised from this event will be donated directly to the TMA.
