This Saturday is the 3rd Spring Fling Criterium weekend of the season. March weather is off to a wild start with swinging temps, storms, and strong winds throughout the region. This weekend looks to deliver a good chill after this week’s warm weather. Saturday’s forecasted lows are in the 20s with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s. Some ice or snow might be in the cards for the morning hours on Saturday as well. Results for the first two weekends of racing can be found HERE.
Sunday’s forecast looks a bit better for the first race in the Perry Dam Series. Sunny skies and highs in the low 50s should provide a fair start to the 2017 series. The Perry Dam Series is back to its original 3-race format after having been reduced to 2 races the past few years. The series begins this Sunday, March 12th just north of Lawrence at Perry Lake. The 5 mile circuit includes one hard climb to the finish each lap and a long trek across the dam, which is usually pounded by a strong north, or south, crosswind.
