After three straight weeks, or more for some areas, of sub-zero temps and arctic vortexes, snow is still on the ground across the Midwest. So it is hard to believe that some states will begin their road season just one week from now. Assuming there aren’t any issues with the weather, the Kansas road season will begin with he first race in the Spring Fling Criterium Series on Saturday the 22nd.
While you could argue that the Missouri road season started on February 8th with the The Mississippi River Bridge Time Trial (Results), the traditional Missouri season opener, The Froze Toes Road Race, is scheduled for Sunday February 23rd in Columbia, Missouri.
Arkansas riders won’t be racing on the pavement for a couple of more weeks but they do have some mountain bike racing planned for next weekend as well. The Iron Mountain MTB Marathon will take place in Arkadelphia on Sunday, February 23rd. Event Flyer : Event Website
