This weekend brings us into August, and we have gone from months of torrential rains directly into searing summer heat. Bring plenty of water with you and check out this week’s upcoming events.


The Grove Criterium will take place on Saturday in St. Louis. Offering a 5900 prize list and a 6-turn course, this race is sure to delight riders and spectators.


The State Keirin Championships are this Thursday, the 30th, in Northbrook.

Those looking to ride for a cause can head to Columbia, Illinois, for the Lupus Wolf Ride. The ride supports the Lupus Foundation of America. Riders can choose routes of 5.5, 21, 56, and 112 miles.

Hannah City plays host to the Wildlife Ride on Sunday. Held in Wildlife Prairie Park, this mountain bike race offers categories for novices and elite-level riders.


Sunday’s Kansas Track Championships will be held in Lawrence.


Lincoln is hosting the State Games of America on Sunday, providing area riders with an opportunity to earn medals in the National State Games event.

South Dakota

The Canton Cycling Classic, the final race in the Midwest Flyover Series, will be held this weekend in Canton.


The Chamois Time Race Series continues on Wednesday with the MTB Time Trail. The event will be held at Sugar Bottom Recreation Area in North Liberty.


Local riders will be treated to a full weekend of events at The Rogers Cycling Festival. There are plenty of rides and races to keep everyone on two wheels throughout the weekend.
