A month of Christmas cookies, fudge, and other calorie laden foods have you worried about a few extra pounds? December 26th brings another opportunity for you to burn off your all the extra Chrismahanakwanzika meals you have been eating lately. Boxing Day Cyclocross 2012 will be held at Mission Farms Shopping Center in Leawood, KS.
I know some of you are asking yourselves, “What the heck is Boxing Day?” Well, we will tell you. Traditionally observed on the day after Christmas, Boxing Day was the time when members of the upper-classes would bestow gifts upon those less fortunate than themselves. Now, much like Black Friday here in United States, Boxing Day has become a retail holiday where those who are still in the holiday spirit can push, shove, and trample each other all while fighting to spend money they don’t have, on stuff they don’t need.
With high temperatures forecasted to be around 20, lows possibly reaching single digits, and a small chance of snow; this will likely be the first wintry race of the year in the Kansas City Metro area. With a recent snowfall in the area, ground temperatures will determine if riders will face a body-jarring frozen landscape or a sloppy, muddy mess. In either case, dress warm for what is sure to be the coldest race of the year so far.
