After three straight weeks, or more for some areas, of sub-zero temps and arctic vortexes, snow is still on the ground across the Midwest. So, it is hard to believe that some states will begin their road season just one week from now. Assuming there aren’t any issues with the weather, the Kansas road season will begin with the first race in the Spring Fling Criterium Series on Saturday, the 22nd.
While you could argue that the Missouri road season started on February 8th with the Mississippi River Bridge Time Trial, the traditional Missouri season opener, The Froze Toes Road Race, is scheduled for Sunday, February 23rd, in Columbia, Missouri.
Arkansas riders won’t be racing on the pavement for a couple more weeks, but they also have some mountain bike racing planned for next weekend. The Iron Mountain MTB Marathon will occur in Arkadelphia on Sunday, February 23rd. Event Flyer
