This weekend is the Sunflower State Games held in Topeka, KS. They do not offer races for category 1 or 2 riders, but for everyone else there are three race opportunities including a time trial, road race, and criterium.
For those of you who are not familiar with the Sunflower State Games here is some information from their website:
The Sunflower State Games is a 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to providing a forum that initiates and encourages camaraderie between different ages, socioeconomic and cultural groups through athletic competition and the sportsmanship of the Olympic spirit. The event promotes the development of healthy lifestyles and physical fitness for the participants, their families and the communities where they live.
The Sunflower State Games is the largest amateur multi sport festival in Kansas conducted annually three weekends in July. Having completed its 23rd year, the Games continue to recognize and reward Kansas athletes of all ages and skill levels. The Sunflower State Games are recognized by the U.S. Olympic Committee and is governed by the National Congress of State Games
A 10k Time Trial kicks the weekend off on Friday evening. The out-and-back course has one turn-around and contains a rolling terrain. Saturday’s criterium will be held at Forbes Field in Topeka, KS on a 1.2 mile course. Sunday is the road race and it will be held at Heartland Park. Riders will race between 20 and 46 miles depending on their age and category.
