It will be a quiet weekend on the road racing front in the state of Kansas. The road racing season, save for a couple more races over the next month, is over, and riders have already started preparing their cyclocross bikes in anticipation of the quickly approaching ‘cross season.

Cross Practice

The upcoming weeks bring several cyclocross training sessions to the area.  The Kansas side of the state line will be hosting several cyclocross clinics, including the KCOI/Boulevard Cyclocross Clinic, Joules ‘Cross Thursday evening practice, and the Source Endurance CX Clinic.

The KCOI Boulevard ‘Cross clinics will be held on September 4th and 11th. The September 4th clinic will be for both male and female riders, while the 11th will be open to women only. Both events are held at Pflumm& Bichelmeyer Park in Shawnee, Kansas, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Web Site

Joules Cyclocross Practice begins this Thursday, September 6th, and runs on Thursday evenings through September 26th. These practices will be held in Lawrence, KS.

The Source Endurance CX Clinic will be held on Saturday, September 7th, in Shawnee, Kansas. Registration

MTB Racing

The Tour de Lizard Fat Tire Classic offers mountain bikers a weekend of MTB events. Saturday affords riders the opportunity to pre-ride the course and participate in the nighttime short-course race. Sunday brings a full day of XC and marathon racing, representing multiple categories and age groups.  Tour de Lizard is held in Arkansas City, KS, on both Saturday and Sunday.
