$20,000 in Prize Money Offered in the Flyover Midwest Omnium Race Series
An exciting new Midwest race series has just been announced. The Flyover Midwest Omnium Race Series will cover 5 races in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, and South Dakota. In addition to the prize money offered at each individual race, the omnium prizes will total $20,000. Individual prize money is offered for three categories: men’s 1/2, men’s 3, and women’s open. Prize money is also up for grabs in the team competition, with big money going to the team with the most registered riders across all five events in all racing categories. The organizers have high hopes for this series,
The purpose is to establish a premier amateur race series that promotes growth and participation in Midwest regional cycling events. Our goal is to make this the most prestigious amateur race series in North America. The focus will be on the men’s and women’s elite athletes, with special consideration given to all teammates and all race categories through the unique concept of a Team Challenge.
Higher payouts will mean larger fields for the Flyover Midwest Omnium Series events. Teams and riders are more willing to travel for the additional prize money and the prestige that comes with a race series title, so an increased field quality should result as well. In the long run, more prize money and the improved strength of the fields should attract riders from outside the region, which will benefit racing in the Midwest.
