Gary Fisher Meets with Kansas City Area Advocates

A group of Kansas City area cycling advocates met with Gary Fisher on Monday to discuss the past, present, and future of advocacy efforts in the region. Mr. Fisher was in town for an event hosted by the Trek Store of Independence and took some time to meet with the advocates to discuss various cycling related issues. Gary is passionate about all aspects of cycling and is committed to advocacy efforts across the nation. He offers a unique voice to the conversation and has perspectives which only someone with his experience and reach can offer.

Groups from both sides of the state line were represented: Kansas City Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator Deb Ridgeway, Gina Poertner of KanBikeWalk, Eric Bunch of BikeWalkKC, Brett Shoffner of ERTA, Jay Thomas and Kent McNeill of Trek Bicycle Stores, Jim Haake of the KCMO Bike Ped Advisory Committee, Prologue Cycling’s own Matt Maher and several other area stakeholders took part in the day’s discussions. Some great discussions took place and connections were made to further the efforts of all involved. Thanks to the great work by these groups and many others, the future of cycling looks great for the Kansas City Metro area, Kansas, and Missouri.
